It all started with my Grandmother Elizabeth baking shortbread and oatcakes to her own handed down recipes, for local friends and family, who soon became her dedicated customers. Our first bakery was in the forest at the foot of the Cairn O’Mount mountain in Royal Deeside and although we have now moved to the other side of the mountain very few things have changed.
Our hand baked products are now enjoyed further afield – from Aberdeen to Adelaide in Australia. My Grandmother no longer bakes the biscuits herself but we have kept things in the family, and I am now the third generation of Duncan’s craft bakers.
But most importantly our famous melt in the mouth shortbread and tasty oatcakes are still baked to the same recipe handed down from my Grandmother – there are some things that we will never change.
